What to Do When You Find Something Cool on the Internet: A Flowchart

Congratulations, you found something cool on the Internet. Now you can use this handy dandy flowchart to figure out what you should do next.

Flowchart created by Loldwell and Rosscott, cartoonists and illustrators extraordinaire. Be sure to give them high-fives on Twitter (here and here) or check out the shirts and posters that were inspired by their flowchart.

Is this Wireless Graphics Card Stupidly Intuitive or Just Stupid?

Cable cutting is almost a reflexively good thing, right? Wireless mice, wireless console controllers, wireless internet—but is this wireless KFA2 GeForce GTX460 graphics card just wireless for the pure sake of it? Or is this the future?

The ostensibly cool factor of a graphics card like this—which KFA2 claims can output 1080p video at 60hz via a monitor receiver—is that it'll allow you to place your display and (wireless) keyboard/mouse anywhere you want, freed from your desktop. Stick the desktop in the basement! Or under the bed! Or wherever. The appeal here lies in getting the desktop tower out of sight and, I suppose, saving space. Which is good!

But then what? I'm not sure where else most people are going to be using their desktop computers other than... a desk. And if you're already at the desk, is it really so much of a pain to have the computer next to you? Where does KFA2 free us to place the tower-less computer, with its 100 foot range? On a dining room table? In the kitchen? These all seem like places in a home where a tablet or laptop would hit the spot, rather than a PC monitor, mouse, and keyboard. And keep in mind, that monitor still needs a power cable.

15 most original iPhone cases

I'm surprised I never thought about this before. The iBottle iPhone case combines two of the modern man's most used tools—his phone and a bottle opener—in one. This way, you'll always know where your phone is when you drink.

It's 20 bucks at baronbob for the iPhone 3G/3GS version. The iPhone 4 version is available for pre-order (for the same price) and coming this month. Hope that glass back can take the stress! [baronbob]

I’m not that much of an iPhone case guy because I think it is a device that is too beautiful to be hidden in a case or in a sleeve. However, I have to admit I have a thing for some of these. This article covers 15 extremely creative and original iPhone cases.

New CarFi – Now your Internet connection has wheels

I can’t tell you how often I wish I had a reliable internet connection in my car. There are so many times I wanted to check something, like movie times, or handle some last minute paperwork or bill paying while I was waiting in line at the car wash, sure with the phones we have these days you might think it redundant, but in my case I use a proprietary computer for my day job and I can’t access my files on any other PC.

Enter CarFi, the portable wireless router and docking station that provides wireless Internet service for your vehicle. CarFi turns your car into a secure Wi-Fi Hotspot, connecting passengers to the Internet in, and even around your car for about 150 feet. Patented TRU Technology allows a seamless connection regardless how fast you are traveling and keeps you connected to the Internet even if your cruising down the freeway or tailgating at your favorite sports arena.

BMW: Emergency Stop Assistant – because you can’t drive unconscious

Sometimes when I am walking down the stairs I wonder, what would happen if I fainted right now? Of course I spend a goodly percentage of my life wondering about weird stuff like that. I won’t tell you anymore about it. It’s probably not a good thing.

However, at least now I know what could happen if I had a medical emergency while I was driving my BMW. BMW’s Emergency Stop Assistant will have the ability to sense your emergency, safely take control of your vehicle, bring it to a standstill on the shoulder and even call the ambulance for you.

Here's a Solar-powered Rainbow Machine

Michael Jones McKean is currently working on an artificial rainbow machine, which uses reclaimed rainwater and sunlight to create rainbow effect that you see here in this picture.

Apparently, it uses some jet pumps and create fountain nozzles to spritz some water in the air, and then the sunlight shines through to create the rainbow effect as first witnessed by Noah himself.

Okay, it is time for me to get all philosophical. I realize that we live in an age where technology can often substitute for something else that nature can give, and it’s getting so it is hard to let nature be nature.

Is it a Map or a Projector? It's Maptor!

I love to travel and explore new places. But I have to tell you, I spent at least half of my trip to Paris finding, and reading the Metro maps. I’m still not sure how I ever made it to where I was going, but it was a great trip nonetheless.

On my next adventure, I’d like to have Maptor with me, it’s a combination map and projector, that can project the appropriate map onto any surface, your hand, T-shirt, floor or walls.

Maptor has an on-board GPS that provides a “you are here” arrow pointing to your current location, solving at least one major problem for me, as I am quite significantly directionally challenged.

Happy New Year!

May you get a clean bill of health from your dentist, your cardiologist, your gastro-enterologist, your urologist, your proctologist, your podiatrist, your psychiatrist, your plumber and the I.R.S.

May your hair, your teeth, your face-lift, your abs and your stocks not fall; and may your blood pressure, your triglycerides, your cholesterol, your white blood count and your mortgage interest not rise.

May New Year's Eve find you seated around the table, together with your beloved family and cherished friends. May you find the food better, the environment quieter, the cost much cheaper, and the pleasure more fulfilling than anything else you might ordinarily do that night.

May what you see in the mirror delight you, and what others see in you delight them. May someone love you enough to forgive your faults, be blind to your blemishes, and tell the world about your virtues.

May the telemarketers wait to make their sales calls until you finish dinner, may the commercials on TV not be louder than the program you have been watching, and may your check book and your budget balance - and include generous amounts for charity.

May you remember to say "I love you" at least once a day to your spouse, your child, your parent, your siblings; but not to your secretary, your nurse, your masseuse, your hairdresser or your tennis instructor.

And may we live in a world at peace and with the awareness of God's love in every sunset, every flower's unfolding petals, every baby's smile, every lover's kiss, and every wonderful, astonishing, miraculous beat of our heart.

Wishing you the best in 2011.
